Need last-minute 4th of July plans?

I have learned my lesson about planning too far ahead-- back when I made the campsite reservation for the 4th there were about 8 people who wanted to go. Everyone from that group now can't make it! I think Shawn is going, but otherwise it's just me and Jackson.

Anybody else want to go? I've reserved a campsite at Panorama Point on Baker Lake, it's supposed to be one of the nicer campgrounds in the state. I'm going up Friday and returning on Monday.

Pre-movie Party this Friday

Hi gang. Well some of us are going to see F911 this Friday, but I'd like to invite all over for a party at my place. Let's say around 7. We'll have drinks and snacks and some hanging out and chatting before leaving for the movie at 9.

I'd love to see you there. Let me know if you need directions.

Fahrenheit 911

So Michael Moore's new flick opens this Friday. I'm going, oh yes indeedy. I already got tickets for some non-movie club friends (Jen, Colby, Jeremy) and myself, but if anyone wants to join us, that would be swell.

We're going to the 9:45 showing at the Meridian downtown. You can buy your tickets at Fandango. A couple shows have already sold out, so if you want to go, better get on it.

Also, Karen just told me about another viewing that she's going to try and get tickets for, also on Friday, but at the Neptune in the U District. The showings are sponsored by Democracy for Washington, MoveOn PAC & Congressman Jay Inslee, so you can rub elbows with politcal movers and shakers, see details here. (In contrast to the Meridian movie going public which seems to be killing time waiting to get into the Cheesecake Factory).

Anyway, there it is.

DATES DATES DATES

1) Okay, so I've decided that 8/20-8/22 will be the days for our La Push (mis)adventure. Please plan accordingly and take that Friday off. We'll have a gay ol' time.

2) My roommates and I are having a house party on Saturday 6/26 and you all are invited. It has craziness potential, because my roommates are talking about getting a keg. If weather permits we'll have a bonfire out in the front yard and a nice little canopy set up. It is always a good time. Hope y'all can make it.

See you tonight!

CineClub Field Trip: Seattle Film Festival

Movie Clubbers, I am so excited!!! I just called and got tickets to the festival screening of Garden State, a film written and directed by Zach Braff, starring Natalie Portman. It's gotten fantastic reviews and I've been wanting to see it since we saw the preview for it at Eternal Sunshine.

I bought 8 tickets, so all movie clubbers are invited. Please let me know if you can/can't go, so I can offer any leftover tickets to other folks.

The screening is at Cinerama next Friday, June 11 at 6:45pm.

CineCamp

Me again.

I probably won't be able to make it to the 6/18 campfest. I'll most likely be prepping for my big trip at the end of June, which means I'll probably be in the office one or two of those days. However, I have a proposal! Let's plan a big hike in camping trip. I've done a few that are easy, fun, and beautiful. If we plan far enough in advance, we could all maybe take a Friday off of work and get down there early. A few years ago, I did this one in the Olympics that was ridiculously easy. It followed the river for a few miles and led to this valley of sorts that was a great starting point for day hikes and exploration the following days.

Let me know if you're interested and what dates would work for y'all. I'm thinking mid to late August. Maybe 8/20-8/22 or 8/27-8/29 (both sets are Friday-Sunday).

If I get a good response, I'll do all the planning and prep.

Movie Club Loyalty!

Last night I tried to rent a few of the movies I haven't seen, but was completely skunked. Monster was all checked out and Mystic River and In American have yet to come out on dvd. I will see Troy this weekend (I already made plans!), but Hellboy is just going to have to wait.

I will prove my loyalty dang it. But maybe not by Monday...
