The Big Game

I've been fighting a bit of a cold, but I think I'm on the road out of it. So my little Super Bowl get together is on. Nothing real fancy. Food, drinks and football. So if you're looking for a place to watch the game (and yes Emma, the Survivor All-Star Jam afterwards) consider my place. 615 Ward St. (between 6th and Aurora) in Queen Anne - Apt. #302. Game start at 3:15pm, but drop by anytime after 2pm. Give me a call if you need specific directions - 283-2210.

I've decided to go see every movie nominated for best picture, or with a best actor/actress nomination. So my list for next month is:

House of Sand and Fog
Cold Mountain
Something's Gotta Give
Monster
21 Grams
Lord of the Rings
Master and Commander

I might also include the supporting roles:
The Cooler
The Last Samurai
Pieces of April
Thirteen (out on video)

Anyone interested in seeing any of this films? How about a double-feature some rainy saturday afternoon?

Ok, so the Oscar noms are out, you can see the whole list here. But here are the movies up for best picture:

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

  • Lost in Translation

  • Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

  • Mystic River

  • Seabiscuit

So what does this mean? Anyone want to try and see all of them (although 2 were movie club picks) before awards night? This means that Karen might actually have to see LOTR!

For our low brow tastes, here's another list of movies to see before the big awards ceremony. Ah yes, the Razzie nominations:

  • Cat in the Hat

  • Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

  • From Justin to Kelly

  • Gigli

  • The Real Cancun

I've actually seen two of these films. A prize if you can guess which two.

Hey kids,

So I didn't actually watch the golden globes last night, but I was pleased to hear about wins for Lost in Translation and also for Sean Penn. Did anyone watch? Anyone surprised by wins or losses?

Matt, can you remind everyone of the movie for this month, and the time/place we'll meet on Feb. 3?

Well, well, here we go. The blog is open for posting. The rules are - there are no rules. Feel free to add whatever you want. I'll try and add more features when I can.

Have fun!
